چکیده
Fatigue fracture is the major threat to railway axle, which can be avoided or delayed by surface strengthening. In this study, a low-carbon alloy axle steel with two states was treated induction hardening and shot peening, respectively, reveal mechanism of fatigue property improvement microstructure characterization, microhardness measurement, residual stress analysis, roughness rotary bending tests. The results indicate that both quenching tempering treatment effectively improve properties modified steel. addition, create an ideal hardened layer on sample phase transformation from ferrite pearlite martensite. By comparison, peening modify in severe plastic deformation introducing large number dislocation even cause grain refinement. Both compressive into sample, reduce level applied metal during On whole, contribution life better than shows obvious advantages improving

Corrosion Properties of 34CrMo4 Steel Modified by Shot Peening
A nanocrystalline layer was prepared on the surface of 34CrMo4 steel by time controlling shot peening (SP, i.e., 1, 5, 10, and 20 minutes). Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, and transmission electron microscope (TEM) were applied to analyze the surface, cross-sections, and grain size of the specimens before and after SP. The electrochemical c...

Corrugated steel web with inherent high out-of-plane stiffness has a promising application in configuring large span highway bridge girders. Due to the irregularity of the configuration details, the local stress concentration poses a major fatigue problem for the welded flange plates of high strength low alloy structural steels. In this work, the methods of applying CFRP laminate and shot peeni...
متن کاملShot Peening as an Alternative to Fatigue Life Improvement of CK45 Steel Coated with an Electroless Ni-Cu-P
The effect of an electroless Ni-Cu-P coating on the fatigue behavior of quenched and tempered CK45 steel has been investigated. The fatigue tests under rotating bending conditions have been conducted in three different conditions of uncoated, as-deposited and shot peened prior to the coating deposition. The results indicate that plating of the base steel leads to a fatigue life reduction. The d...

متن کاملStudy and Simulation of Shot peening Effect on Fatigue Life of a Powder Forged Connecting rod
Shot peening applies a residual compressive stress field (RCSF) on the surface of parts. It also shifts “crack nucleation sites” to sub-surface locations. A nondestructive method of measuring the stresses, Sin2ψ was utilized here and the stress values introduced to Ansys software. For this purpose, uniform stress in all directions was applied on the con rod. Loading on the rod in Ansys had thre...
